Three generations of my family all live in one house. We’ve been quarantining like everyone else. Usually we get along great but after having everyone inside for weeks we were all getting on each other’s nerves. My kids where fighting, my parents were extra cranky too. Well, my husband bought a bunch of SECOND SUN lights and set them up inside. I really couldn't believe it, but the mood of everyone got better dramatically!

My parents were getting really depressed with the lockdown. My mother is a person who likes to go out shopping, and my father likes to spend time with his friends in the park. Now they can’t. They were moping around, and I really feared for their health. I got them some Second Sun lights, and the whole mood changed. Their apartment is bright, cheerful, and it helped them adapt to the new situation!

Ever since I started staying indoors 24/7, I started having sleep problems. You know, since we were inside all the time it was hard to tell night from day. Second Sun fixed my circadian rhythms. I fall asleep easily and sleep all night without waking until morning.

Lux is a measure of light received per unit area, so the value depends on your distance from the light source. Measuring with my light meter at a realistic distance of 1 foot, I get around 1600 lux. You have to have the thing 4 inches from your face to get the listed 10,000 lux. Basically all the manufacturers of light therapy lamps pull this sort of bullshit. You can find more info on the problem by googling "you need more lumens

After only using this about 4 times the front plastic on the light has melted. Also the power adapter tends to get very hot during operation. The light still works but this has left me feeling that I need to very closely watch this product due to the heat issues. See photo attached. I am disappointed because my wife really needs this therapy light and I can't trust it. The plastic cover is now actually touching the LEDs. Update: The company has reached out to me to resolve my issues by sending me a new light.

So this light no longer is rechargable, here is what the customer service representative told me when I asked about this. "We apologize for the confusion but we have phased out the rechargeable battery on our lamps a few months ago. We removed the battery because the lamp becomes dimmer when it is battery operated (and not plugged in), and we did not want to compromise the 10,000 lux brightness which determines the effectiveness of the lamp as a light therapy product.

Works well, I’ve had it for two weeks and I enjoy every morning. Yet to be seen if will fix my SAD. I’m feeling confident from the research that I’ve done that this light is hands-down the best one. When it comes to depression why play around, just buy the light.

Ordered this light for my son who has depression. It came within two days. His initial response was, "wow". It has really helped him already. Winter has arrived early in Northeast Ohio and I believe the dark mornings really affect people's moods. Thank you so much for the timely delivery, and the help that it has already provided to my son : )

I finally replaced my old clunky happy light. This one is great because of the range of adjustments you can make including color and brightness. I love that it doesn't take up much room either. Very happy with this purchase.

Measured the unit I received at only 6,090 lux at 10", 5,350 lux at 12", after a couple minutes' warmup. Brightness levels are false advertising. I used this lux meter ( Leaton Digital Luxmeter / Digital Illuminance Light Meter lux meter with LCD Display(Range: 0.1~200,000 Lux Luxmeter, 0.01~20,000Fc) ). Anyone who buys a lamp like this should also buy a meter (can be had for ~$15) to ensure you're getting what you paid for.

Please don't pay any attention to the review that claims this light box produces only half the amount of light it's supposed to. The light box has TWO switch positions -- one that provides the 10,000 lux that's used for light therapy and one that provides half that amount so that it can be used as a regular lamp. The guy put his switch in the wrong position, then blamed the light box!

I’ve tried the Philips blue light, the small screen white light, box elite 10,000 LUX bright light therapy light. This is the most effective light to me. I feel so energetic all day with strong mental clarity. Don’t light it too light. I did 40 minutes first day, and I ended up falling asleep after 2am that night and still maintained a very higher status for the next 2 days.
